Looking Everywhere at Once
2019-06-22

So if you imagine being able to see all around you, with eyes on the back of your head, side of your head, and under your head – with your body not getting in the way. That's taken some imaging alright I'd say. No.25 Fitzwilliam Place a rather splendid...

In Pub, Staring at Ceiling
2019-06-21

Not for the first time either :) I don't recall enjoying textured wallpaper this much before, but hell, it works here. Grabbing bits of light and shade. Embossing a tactility in those hard to reach places of the sacred boozer. So reverse engineering this – its been some time, and I've a limited amount space to remember stuff – the ceiling has a gold grid on the ceiling, filled in with the red textured wallpaper. Sounds very odd but,...

Ye Olde DPS
2019-06-15

The smell print. I used to work in publishing and we'd take delivery of palettes of stacks of fresh magazines, ink barely dry and haul them into temporary halting sites before lashing them out unto the masses. The heady print aroma would waft about the office between deadlines, the soundtrack to the smudges on your hands. Haven't gotten that from any online source yet. The olde Double Page Spread was always an exciting thing. Make photo big....

Whisky Tasting
2019-06-13

It hit me. Leaving Cert. Blind silence panic. There be five of them sat upstairs silently trying to discern between grain and chaff, whisky and whiskey, bourbon and rye. Five different tables, all studiously looking for clues in the three separate samples lined up, swirling, sniffing, scribbling. I never experienced whisky like this. Never a big fan, a couple of run-ins and car crashes inspired by Hunter's tomes of the feverish Wild Turkey...

Ye Olde Editorial Spreads
2019-06-08

Going back a couple of seasons, but then I am in the middle of a regular backup across the hard drives, so no apologies. Think it must be form an inflight magazine with a new route to Dublin. More than anything it's nice to see some though out layouts, structured and ordered, de riguer and nearly obsolete. Always a big fan of the Dead Zoo on Merrion Street, always remember looking up gobsmacked at the flying whale a young un, and...

Dont Mind If I Do
2019-06-05

Sweet, sweet nectar. Goddamit! Beer is just great. Personally, I'm not that overboard on all the craft ale of late. I do like a lot of cheap generic swill, and tend to play if safe when put upon in a heavily bearded crafty ale pub. I can stray for a IPA – but that about as far as I go. Once I ventured toward a cardamon flavoured ale, and tried one called Engine Oil – perhaps that was my very downfall.Dialing it back a bit, and simply...
