First Blog Post
2015-01-13

Well let us get this new incarnation rolling with the inaugural blog posting! Welcome to the fourth, or quite possibly fifth incarnation of conphotography.com, and as technology rolls ever quicker, it is without a doubt the one with the most amount of bells and dynamic whistles. Some pretty sweet CSS and HTML5 under the bonnet here, all harnessed under the familiar, and near idiot-proof embrace of Wordpress. Thanks to all the wonderful instances o...

Second blog post
2015-01-13

You know you're lucky in your job when the conversation steers around how to make it look like the dog is casually enjoying a whisky. I've never known a dog to have negative impact on a photo. When shooting this I had to laugh, as some days seem more ridiculous than others. Anyways I promised a posting on it quickly will return with the final shot complete with cigar and monocle and a better post title!

Ice Ice Baby
2015-01-14

So the good folk at The Digital Hub managed to get themselves nominated and braved up to the daunting challenge of 2014's bucket of ice cold water. I was on hand doing some interiors and portrait photography around the campus in Dublin 8 on the day so managed to catch the glee of the ice water chuckers, and the horror of the recipients. Really phenomenally successful charity viral campaign so congrats to all involved.

Event Photography in Dublin
2015-01-14

Each event I go to has a different tone, made up of some varying contributing factors like crowd, content, expectation, involvement, alcohol (!) and usually the weather outside. More importantly is what people want to do with the photographs after the event, be it PR release with media distribution, Facebook posting, website galleries or just attendee distribution. They've all got slightly different needs and requirements, it just a case of pinni...

Satis Properties Google 360 Tour
2015-01-22

Satis Properties are based up on the Phoenix Park Racecourse, in Castleknock, Dublin 15. They're delighted with their new offices, and run a tight ship out of their with property sales and lettings. So they needed some headshots and some shots of their office for the new website and loved the idea of a full Google 360 tour – since they've a unique office setup, it really deserves getting shown off to the world.

Event Photography and Timelapse - LaRousse Foods
2015-01-26

LaRousse are the guys behind most of the great plates of food in Dublin, and Ireland. They supply most of the top Dublin restaurants with fantastic quality food from Ireland and beyond. With so much of the shift in dining being about the providence and the quality of the produce, they took it upon themselves to ferry up some really interesting artisan producers with their wares to introduce them to some of Dublin's chefs. Throw in some great tastin...

PhotoSphere on the Brooklyn Bridge
2015-02-06

I was lucky enough to have some down time on commission over in New York last spring. I was in the throes of a new found love and amazement with Android's Photosphere – it's a pretty amazing bit of software tacked onto the later native stock Android camera which allows you to create full 360s utilising the gyro, compass and processor of the device. After you finish shooting it takes a little while to crunch the images into a 2:1 (that's the flat jp...

Something from the Industrial World
2015-02-09

Function overrides form in this. You need to be able to see a fast moving sticker printing press with tack sharpness. And you need to be able to explain to the designer that you can modify to the die-cut without affecting the grid bleed on the printing press (or something technical about printing that makes a bit more sense than that). Sealpack make labels for a medical devices so accuracy, precision and consistency and key to their product. Each ...
