The Theatre is due to be opened on March 18th 2010, the day after St Patrick's Day, with a performance of Swan Lake by the Russian State Ballet. It is located in a formal industrialised area that has been transformed from gasworks, warehousing and cement works to offices, apartments and restaurants. Both Facebook and Google have established offices in the immediate area. Other notable architectural features include Santiago Calatrava's Samuel Beckett Bridge, Shay Cleary's slim apartments Alto Vetro, Kevin Roche's wince-enducing Convention Centre Dublin, the new Lansdowne Road Stadium byPopulous, Scott Tallon Walker and Buro Happold. Thankfully Ireland is being left with something solid now that it is suffering from an acute hangover from the Celtic Tiger days.
